How to Reach Sri Lanka

Srilanka Beach Holiday

  Srilanka Beach

Sri Lanka is one of the most fascinating and interesting places to be at the in the world. Like India it is one of the most culturally diverse nations in the world. There are several monuments here that are world renowned and also there are many more interesting things to see and experience. From the sumptuous sea food to the wonderful beaches to the exciting water sports, there is much to look out for in this tiny island country that neighbours India. Being surrounded by water on practically all sides, it is a nation that is heavily dependent on sea ports and sea transport. We will examine some of the key features of how to reach Sri Lanka as follows.

If you live in a country that is far away from Sri Lanka then the only option that you have at your disposal is to travel by air. Air tickets are pretty cheap from India especially if you travel from the southern states in the country. So what most people do is that they make their way to places such as Cochin, Trivandrum, Chennai, Bangalore and the like and then take flights from there to Colombo and then make their way to the other cities and towns of Sri Lanka. If you book a plane ticket at least about a month before your travel date then you will get tickets for as cheap as approximately 8000 INR. The closer the day of your booking to your travel date, the more they will charge for the flight tickets. So make sure your bookings are done in advance. On the other hand if you are travelling from The United States of America then the flight will take the following route. Let us assume you board the flight in Los Angeles, USA. There will be two major stops and they are Hong Kong and Singapore. And from there the flight will take you to Colombo. The flight takes about 32 hours and 40 minutes and one needs to be wary of the jet lag that will follow inevitably.

Travelling by ship is another option but most of the times this is a cruise option. This means that you could travel there by ship but then again that will be a trip that will be combined with other cities in the country such as Cochin. You will spend about 3 days and 2 nights in Colombo and then travel back to Cochin. This is one of the most beautiful experiences that one can have in one’s lifetime given that you will spend so much time at sea in one of the most luxurious cruise ships available with all of the food and entertainment taken care of. It takes about 21 hours to reach Colombo from Cochin and the journey is magnificent. Not only is the scenery beautiful as you come across some of the most exotic islands amidst the pristine water, but also, the cruise has one of the best service that can be provided. Of course, the more luxurious your cabin, the more facilities you can avail.
